More about Draper
Draper produces projection screens, window shades, gym equipment, and more. They have recently launched a new line called Draper@Home. The new line focuses on bringing shades, audio visual equipment, and athletic equipment to homes.
According to Draper’s website, “Every Draper shade is manufactured in Spiceland, Indiana according to measurements from a specific window. We use the latest technology to build the perfect shade for your window. Every shade we make is tested by a Draper specialist before it leaves our factory.”
Draper Inc. has been nestled on Pearl Street in Spiceland since 1902. Over the last century, they have grown to be one of the largest employers in Henry County.
Throughout the years, they have seen a great amount of change through offering new goods, services, and expansions. They are now planning on a new building expansion. Company president Chris Broome said the new building will be around a 100,000 square foot expansion.
Broome said they are still in the planning phase of the new expansion. “We don’t have the new building all figured out yet.” The new building will also be on Pearl Street and will be connected to their main building by a breezeway.
Broome said, “The company has been seeing growth, despite the economy. We have added a lot of people to the company this year.”
He expects this expansion to bring around 20 to 30 more people to the company.
The company plans to break ground this fall. Broome said he hopes the building will be ready by this time next year. “Nothing is concrete with the current supply chain, though,” said Broome.
Draper is currently in the process of trying to rezone the area from residential to commercial.
They have already found support from the Spiceland Council and will have to gain approval from the Henry County Planning Commission before they start the expansion.
