After a three-month strike, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Players' Association and orchestra’s management agreed to terms for a new four-year contract earlier this month.

The union wants to show how grateful it is for the outpouring of community support, "which played a significant role in settling this dispute," it said in a March 17 announcement.

To thank Fort Wayne, the association is sponsoring billboards located at 2250 W. Jefferson Blvd. and East Coliseum Boulevard and Coldwater Road. The boards will begin March 18.

The billboards read: Your Support Was Music To Our Ears. Thank you, Fort Wayne. You made it possible for us to make music again."

Philharmonic performances are scheduled to return March 24 with the production of “Swan Lake” in partnership with the Fort Wayne Ballet.

The new contract includes a wage increase of 45.8% over the next four years and expands the season to 30 weeks.
