Drivers on the southside will face delays near Interstate 465 this week.

The heaviest construction is on Harding Street/State Road 37. Construction crews began work on demolishing the I-465 bridges over Harding Street Tuesday. Southbound Harding Street is now limited to one through lane and one left-turn lane and northbound Harding Street will be limited to one through lane and one left-turn lane under I-465 starting Thursday.

Southbound drivers are advised to be cautious of workers putting down temporary striping. Construction on Harding Street will be long-term and will cause delays, according to a weekly construction update from the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Drivers will also see single-lane and double-lane closures this week on I-465 in both directions between Mann Road and U.S. 31. The closures will occur nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., INDOT officials say.

Epler Avenue west of Belmont Avenue will reopen in mid-April. Until then, drivers can follow Concord Street, Banta Road and Harding Street as a detour. Epler Avenue east of Belmont Avenue is still open. Speed limits on State Road 37 will remain at 45 mph north of Banta Road as construction crews continue work to finish I-69, INDOT officials say.
