Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is ready to assist President-elect Donald Trump carry out "the largest deportation in U.S. history" after the Republican chief executive takes office Jan. 20.

In a statement signed by 19 Republican state attorneys general, Rokita and his colleagues proclaimed Wednesday their steadfast backing of Trump's immigration policies.

"Republican attorneys general will support President Trump as he restores the rule of law to our immigration system. We will work with President Trump to secure the border, end failed Biden administration immigration policies, and effect the largest deportation in U.S. history. We will stand with President Trump as he makes America safe again," Rokita said.

In particular, Rokita and the other Republican attorneys general said they're counting on Trump to "fully rescind the unlawful DACA programs" that, since 2012, have allowed individuals who entered the United States without legal permission as children, sometimes known as "Dreamers," to remain in America to work or attend school, rather than be deported to their parents' home country.

Rokita also said he supports Trump's call to deny U.S. citizenship to U.S-born children of illegal immigrants — notwithstanding the plain language of the Constitution's 14th Amendment and 127 years of Supreme Court precedent automatically granting citizenship to "all persons" born in the United States.

In addition, Rokita endorsed Trump's promise at last year's Republican National Convention to "end the illegal immigration crisis by closing our border and finishing the wall," and pledged that state and local law enforcement in Indiana are ready to collaborate with Trump to implement his immigration and deportation programs.

"We look forward to returning to the successful 'America First' policies that protected our country during the first Trump Administration," Rokita said.
