Gov. Mike Braun is asking Hoosiers to share their ideas for how Indiana can save money.
The Republican chief executive said his team — including eight new cabinet secretaries each earning $275,000 a year — already is making state government "more efficient and more accountable."
But Braun said as a former business owner he realizes customers often know first, and best, when a business can operate better.
"I left my business to run for office because I knew government could be run better and more efficiently. I had to deal with government every day and knew from my own experience that it could be more efficient," Braun said.
In that vein, Braun is asking Indiana's "customers" — its citizens — to email him at ideas@gov.in.gov with notions for reducing spending, improving government efficiency, or sharing local initiatives that could be implemented statewide.
"Hoosiers in all 92 counties told me they've had to tighten their belts over the last few years and they elected me to make their government do the same," Braun said.
