Bloomington developer plans to create a 343-acre technology park on Ellettsville’s west side.

The park, on five parcels along North Starnes Road, south of Ind. 46, would include five or six buildings, each of which would host between 10 and 20 employees, according to planning officials.

The developer, Greg Bowlen, said he envisions the businesses to employ primarily highly paid engineers in fields including electronics, computers, batteries and software.

“It’s very exciting for the community and the tech jobs it could bring,” he said.

The Ellettsville Plan Commission last week approved rezoning the parcels from agriculture to light industrial to allow the project to proceed, though additional approvals would be needed before construction can commence.
