Northeast Indiana lost more than 1 million chickens, ducks and turkeys to bird flu in 2025, according to state data.
LaGrange County was the epicenter of avian influenza outbreaks in Indiana last year, with the fatal illness found in 65 flocks. More than 940,000 birds were killed there in an effort to stop the spread, according to the Indiana Board of Animal Health dashboard.
