VINCENNES — A new public transportation service is coming to Vincennes, known as the Vincennes Trolley, a fare free ride that will make 53 stops throughout the city.
The trolley will be operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The trolley will begin to run on Dec. 2 at 10 a.m., where a grand ribbon cutting will take place.
The Vincennes Trolley will make stops at locations such as Walmart, Dollar General, Vincennes University, and Good Samaritan Hospital.
Mayor Joe Yochum said the trolley is a result of community conversations wherein Vincennes residents identified the need for public transportation additional to VanGO.
The trolley is funded through money given to the city during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, according to Yochum. The service will be operated by the YMCA’s VanGo program.
Those interested in a complete listing of Vincennes Trolley stops or more information regarding the trolley can pick up a brochure at City Hall or the YMCA or download the Passio GO app.
