Indiana University’s Bloomington campus set a new record this fall with 7,600 first-year students — topping the old mark of 7,564 set in the fall of 2008.

It’s the seventh consecutive year that first-year enrollment passed the 7,000 mark. And for comparison purposes, the new enrollment mark is less than 1,000 students from equalling the entire undergraduate enrollment at the University of Notre Dame.

This fall’s class also is just one point shy of equalling the best average score for incoming students on the SAT critical reading and mathematics exams, coming in at 1202. The class also boasts a median high school grad-point average of 3.60 on a scale of 4.0.
