Greater Lafayette business and government leaders are trying to learn from others in their ongoing effort to place a value on passenger rail service.
With the state undecided about future funding for the Hoosier State line, Lafayette and other communities along the route are weighing the costs and benefits of the four-day-a-week service between Indianapolis and Chicago.
Greater Lafayette Commerce invited Chris Koos, mayor of Normal, Ill., to talk about the impact of increased Amtrak service in his city.
“Successful passenger rail depends on frequency and on-time service,” Koos said during a presentation Tuesday at Hilton Garden Inn in West Lafayette.
