MUNCIE — A group of local business, government and economic development leaders met Tuesday morning to report the success of recent job creation and retention efforts and look to the future.
Tuesday’s breakfast meeting at the Horizon Convention Center — attended by officials including Mayor Dennis Tyler — marked the one-year point into the Vision 2016 program.
The Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance hosted the update, which saw officials report that the group’s $4 million, five-year fundraising goal had been met in the first year, counting pledges and commitments from local entities.
“That’s a fantastic number,” said Dave Heeter of MutualBank, co-chairman of the Vision 2016 campaign.
The campaign was launched a year ago with several goals, including creating and retaining jobs, attracting new businesses, improving the image of the community, workforce education and promoting early childhood education.
