Bloomington moves to block state's purchase of land in I-69 corridor

Bloomington plans to buy a portion of residential land state transportation officials were seeking for the Interstate 69 project and earmark it for affordable housing use, Mayor Mark Kruzan said today.

Kruzan's plan to purchase the land sidestepped a potential face-off, for now, between local transportation officials and Indiana Department of Transportation officials who could have withheld $38 million in transportation funding for local projects if the state's purchase were voted down.
