The Hoosier Environmental Council and Improving Kids’ Environment, both nonprofit groups with statewide missions in Indiana, have merged. The combined group will be come under the banner of the Hoosier Environmental Council, according to a news release.

For the past 20 years, Improving Kids’ Environment has been working to reduce toxic risks to children from lead, particulate matter, pesticides, household chemicals and other materials. The HEC has been a leading environmental advocate in Indiana for more than 36 years, with a focus on environmental health.

“Though most of the environmental issues we have been working on at HEC benefit children in some way, we are looking forward to this merger as an opportunity to focus specifically on environmental threats to children’s health,” Dr. Indra Frank, environmental health director at HEC, said in the news release.
