Shelby County jobless rate rises in February 2009

Indiana's unemployment rate increased to 9.4 percent in February, up from January's revised 9.3 percent, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported Friday. Shelby County's rate also increased from 10.5 to 10.7 percent.

Nationwide, unemployment remained at January's 8.1 percent.

Shelby County ranks 45th in the state overall - up from 44th and about in the middle of the 92 counties - but still trails its neighboring counties.
