Urban Trail project moves forward after 'compromise' with Fort Wayne City Council

The Urban Trail project is moving forward, even though officials don’t yet know which east-west street in downtown Fort Wayne will accommodate the multi-use pathway.

The trail, which will run between the street and sidewalk, was initially proposed to replace a lane on Washington Boulevard, a move that some Fort Wayne City Council members did not support. Washington has the highest traffic volume of all downtown streets, according to 2024 average daily traffic volume data from the city’s Traffic Engineering Division.
