Although no official announcement has been made on where a proposed Chrysler-Getrag transmission plant, providing up to 1,200 jobs, will be constructed, Getrag began advertising five jobs on the Internet Tuesday.

The jobs could be the first at the proposed $560 million plant that will produce dual wet clutch transmissions as part of a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Getrag.

The posts on JOBS.net include: Civil/Environmental Engineer; Mechanical Engineer; Equipment Engineer; Facility Engineer; and Human Resources Manager.

Two locations still appear in the running for the plant, Kokomo and in Tipton County at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Indiana 28. The Tipton County Economic Development Foundation has taken options to purchase 240 acres at the site.

Wendy Dugan, a human relations generalist for Getrag in Michigan, said Wednesday the jobs will be available in May.

Dugan said to her knowlege the new plant will be located in the Kokomo area.

"I don't have details on the plant," she said.
