JEFFERSONVILLE - American Commercial Lines is trimming nearly 10 percent of its work force at its Jeffboat manufacturing division.
The cuts will impact salaried and hourly employees and will be completed by Friday, according to a press release.
ACL says Jeffboat's work force will remain at more than 1,000. A 10 percent cut means more than 100 jobs will be eliminated, some through incentive packages.
"These actions are necessary in order to sustain ourselves during this economic downturn and will position us for the imminent recovery in the economy," said Jacques Vanier, vice president of manufacturing, in a news release.
