The expected closure of two area automotive supply plants in May will result in the loss of more than 200 jobs.

Sumco Inc. notified the state Friday that it would close its metal-plating operation in Indianapolis on Girls School Road on May 12, if a buyer for the plant cannot be found. The closure would result in the loss of 110 jobs.

Sumco supplies plated coil stock material to the automotive industry for use in electrical connectors and is a subsidiary of publicly traded WHX Corp. in White Plains, N.Y.

Also, officials of Cleveland-based Eaton Corp. told Indiana its Greenfield plant will close May 11, resulting in the loss of 103 jobs.

The plant supplies power-train components for light- and medium-duty trucks
