Elkhart: Philips Products closing to put 250 out of work

The economic slowdown is claiming another 250 jobs in Elkhart as Philips Products, Inc., has decided to cease operations.

A manufacturer of doors and windows for the RV and manufactured housing industries as well as residential commercial markets, Philips announced today that it has decided to close all plants in six states, putting a total of 675 employees out of work.

Philips stated it will begin working with state and local agencies to lessen the impact of this closure on the workers and their families.

Ron Mason, president of Philips, stated in the release the decision to close "is not a reflection upon the employees of Philips...."

In Elkhart, Philips is located on Magnum Drive.
