Northeast Indiana area autoworkers, suppliers get reprieve

Autoworkers and parts suppliers in northeast Indiana breathed a sigh of relief Friday when they learned the government would loan General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC $17.4 billion.

Just a day earlier, GM spokeswoman Julie Gibson had said her company was perilously close to going broke.
