MORGAN COUNTY — Morgan County property owners could be victims of a malware attack of a system the county uses, which provides tax statements and assessment for taxpayers.

Earlier this month, taxpayers in the county began receiving letters from The Master’s Touch, notifying that the company had fallen “victim to a malware attack when an unknown individual gained access to the server that manages our eNoticeonline system.”

The website, eNoticesonline.com, is a service provided by The Master’s Touch.

Morgan County Treasurer Terry Clelland said that the attack happened on Oct. 23, 2019.

“It caused the system to crash,” Clelland said. “And (Master’s Touch) quickly restored the server and blocked the intruder from future attacks.”

Morgan County is not the only location which utilizes Master’s Touch and and the eNoticeOnline system.

Monroe County also uses the systems so that its residents can access their tax bills.

Clelland said that the personal information that might have been accessed includes the usernames and passwords of those that utilized the service.

“So, they forced everyone to go in and change their passwords,” Clelland added.

In its letter dated Dec. 9, The Master’s Touch is asking everyone review information, which includes ways that someone can protect their personal information.

For any questions, the company can be contacted at incidentinfo@masterstouch.com or by calling a toll free phone number at 1-833-485-0211.
