Rushville Republican cutting back to three times weekly

Effective May 2, 2009 the Rushville Republican will be published on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Regional Publisher Laura Welborn said, "We believe this is a more effective way to produce the paper in a community our size. Many communities the size of Rushville and Rush County are fortunate to have a weekly or twice weekly publication in their area."

"The days selected for publishing were selected to provide the best sports coverage and local news that were the best fit for the community," Welborn continued. "Rushville is a marvelous community and deserves the best possible community paper that it will support."

April 30 will be the last day of the current publishing cycle, with the May 2 edition beginning the new delivery cycle.

Welborn also said this decision was not an easy one to make, adding that Regional Managing Editor Kevin Green and the staff will still produce just as many stories, with those stories being posted on the newspaper's Web site at www.rushvillerepublican.com.

"The plan is to update our Web site at least three times a day, and more when there's breaking news. We're not changing the content so much as we are the packaging and delivery of the newspaper," she concluded.
