Migration patterns are included in a housing study released this month that shows downtown Fort Wayne and the East Central neighborhood can accommodate more homes as the city continues to grow. The study released last week says downtown and East Central could respectively absorb at least 1,280 and 300 new market-rate homes over the next five years. The two areas represent more than 6,800 homes.
Laurie Volk of Zimmerman/Volk Associates, a New Jersey real estate consultant, said downtown Fort Wayne has become more urban since the housing study the firm presented in 2021.
