Columbus Planning Commission requested additional information regarding a new hotel proposed for Indiana 46 West.

Breeden Investment Group on Wednesday requested rezoning the property on the northwest corner of Pine Ridge Drive and Jaimee Lane for the new Columbus Residence Inn, a planned three-story franchise owned by Marriott Hotels.
A representative said the hotel would be a prototype, merging designs of the company's existing hotels.
He said plans call for the hotel to house 80 units and for 87 on-site parking spaces.
Commissioners continued the discussion until their Feb. 6 meeting to obtain additional information regarding sidewalks and for the company to provide colored elevation sketches.
   Also Wednesday, commissioners:

  • Voted to recommend to Columbus City Council rezoning three properties at the corner of Seventh and Union streets to allow for a 10-unit multifamily building.
A handful of neighbors told commissioners they think replacing the existing three homes with the new structure would revitalize the area while providing additional, affordable housing.
The request will go before the city council Jan. 16.

  • Recommended rezoning 20 acres at the intersection of Omega Drive and Indianapolis Road from business to Industrial.
