INDIANAPOLIS - Former lawmakers representing Fort Wayne and Steuben County asked a Senate committee Thursday to add language to a gambling bill allowing a public referendum on gaming in those areas.

The vote on Senate Bill 405 was put off until next week, but the Senate Appropriations Committee took testimony for several hours Thursday.
