INDIANAPOLIS - Senate Republican leaders on Monday unveiled a wide-ranging plan to fix the state's deficit-ridden unemployment insurance system that includes tax increases on businesses and a cut in unemployment benefits for Hoosiers.

Sen. Brandt Hershman, R-Wheatfield, said the changes mean the state Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund will balance in 2011 and allow the state to begin in 2012 paying back hundreds of millions borrowed from the federal government.
