Indiana files again to revoke South Bend abortion clinic license

The clinic was inspected after a complaint on June 3, focusing on the lack of policies regarding medical abortion, as well as a lack of documentation that women received state-required education at least 18 hours before the procedure.

In fact, interviews with staff indicate that women seeking medical abortion — performed by taking medication and not by a surgical procedure — are given the drug at the first consultation, and not 18 hours later, the complaint says.

The clinic also doesn't have a governing body in place to determine clinic policies, and also doesn't have a patient registry of all patients seeking services, according to the complaint.

"The deficiencies recited in the Survey Report as detailed above shows that Women's Pavilion is not in compliance with the laws governing the conduct of abortion clinics in this state, and that such noncompliance is willful, intentional and detrimental to the welfare of clinic patients," the complaint stated.
