Terex-Advance Mixer has laid off 65 employees since the end of June, but a company official said Friday that a short-term slump in residential housing was the cause, and the plant will not close.

"We're caught in the middle of this housing decline," said Dale Jones, vice president and general manager of the Terex Road Building Group. "It's not just a Terex-Advance issue, it's an industry issue."
