Monroe County schools offering early retirement to teachers, administrators

MCCSC teachers and administrators can now consider an early retirement incentive, featuring a one-time $25,000 lump sum, in a program approved Friday afternoon by the school board.

Monroe County Community School Corp. officials made the offer while facing a need to cut up to $4.5 million from the district's general fund, in the hope that additional retirements might help save some jobs on the lower end of the salary scale.
