Muncie's poverty statistics include college students

MUNCIE -- The recent spike in Muncie's poverty rate is as much a reflection of the U.S. Census Bureau's change in methodology as it is a reflection of the growing number of needy.

For the first time, poverty statistics released through the bureau's American Community Survey last week included people living in group quarters, including prisons, hospitals, nursing homes and university dormitories.
