A group of county commissioners from northcentral and northeastern Indiana, joined in an advisory capacity by a handful of state officeholders, is trying to be heard. We hope they succeed. They are worth listening to.
The commissioners' aim is to turn their frustration over counties being blamed by the state for high property taxes into something positive. They have put their heads together, identified shared views and are offering a series of proposals for what could grow into genuine reform of Indiana's mind-numblingly complicated taxation system.
