SOUTH BEND -- The message was clear: Big things are coming to the South Bend area over the next few years, and government is one of the entities that has to be prepared.
Patrick M. McMahon, executive director of Project Future, took the St. Joseph County Commissioners and County Council to dinner Monday night to talk about everything from the U.S. 31 freeway project to the possibility of an intermodal transfer station in LaPorte County.
But the biggest project of them all, he said, will be the Midwest Academy for Nanoelectronics and Architectures coming to the University of Notre Dame.
