RESTON, Va. -- Shipments of recreational vehicles continued to stumble, falling 7.1 percent in January 2008 compared with January 2007.
Recreation Vehicle Industry Association reports that 24,900 units were shipped in January 2008, down from the 26,800 units shipped in January 2007.
The decline was led by motorhomes, which dropped 21.4 percent while towables slipped 4.4 percent. Shipments of Class A and Class B motorhomes were off 30.8 percent and 33.3 percent, respectively but Class C broke even.
Among towables, shipments of travel trailers fell 3 percent, fifth wheels sank 10.6 percent while folding camping trucks rose 4.5 percent and truck campers broke even.
