NEWNAN, Ga. -- Recreational park trailer shipments fell 12.9 percent in 2007 but the year still was the fourth-best in the 25-year history of the park trailer business, according to the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association.
Manufacturers shipped 8,837 units to dealers in 2007, down from the 10,143 shipped in 2006, the strongest year. Shipments were down in most regions of the country although modest gains were reported in California, Arizona, Colorado and other Rocky Mountain states. Shipments to Canada reached 1,258 units in 2007, a 16.8 percent jump from the 1,077 in 2006.
The second-strongest year for park trailer shipment was 2005, with 9,937 units and 2004 was the third with 9,186 units.
