To give the community an update on its businesses and to help other businesses create reopening plans, the Cook Group did a presentation Tuesday via Facebook.

Pete Yonkman, president of the Cook Group and Cook Medical, led a presentation ranging in topics from the care of sick employees to social distancing customers at the French Lick Resort and Casino.

Last week, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced a five-step plan to reopen the state in phases, which included when certain sectors could go back to work and when certain types of businesses could be open. While Monroe County officials signed an order Friday to keep the status quo in place until May 15 within the county, businesses have still been preparing for their potential reopening over the next several weeks.

“We’re not here claiming that we’ve gotten everything right during our response to COVID-19, but to share our willingness to engage and to share our lessons learned,” said Derek Voskuil, Cook Group’s vice president of quality and corporate operations.

Voskuil emphasized that the business was guided by the goals of keeping employees safe, maintaining a continuity of medical supplies, helping patients and making safe public spaces for customers.
