Daniels pitches all-day kindergarten

INDIANAPOLIS - A dismal revenue update didn't stop Gov. Mitch Daniels from proposing a three-year phase-in for full-day kindergarten Tuesday that would focus first on needy children and eventually cost the state $250 million a year.

"Full-day kindergarten works. It is needed, and 2007 is the time to make it a reality finally in the state of Indiana," he said at a luncheon presented by the Indiana Youth Institute.
