Fort Wayne-based DeBrand Fine Chocolates now has a store in Kuwait, owners Cathy Brand-Beere and Tim Beere announced.

The store, they said, was opened April 7 by Rashed Al-Shaya, who was introduced to the nationally known chocolatier’s products by his wife.

Al-Shaya is planning to open more DeBrand locations throughout the Middle East, including in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, two DeBrand employees will spend six weeks in Kuwait helping train the new store’s staff.

The new store is in Kuwait’s Avenues Mall, which also houses high-end retailers like Tiffany, Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Armani.

“We are excited about the grand opening and the enthusiasm they have for our chocolates abroad,” Brand-Beere said in a statement. “We look forward to growing DeBrand both domestically and internationally.”
