Last year, the Hope Center launched a program that offers leadership outreach for Connersville Middle School students. This year they are adding a program for Connersville High School students.

The Hope Center will sponsor a leadership outreach class for the 2023-24 academic year. This class will meet once a week for 60 minutes after school for 10 weeks. Led by a certified life coach, students will receive dynamic instruction on relevant topics that will encourage growth, maturity, and leadership.

Hope Center Board President, Sheila Hupp, said this session of the LIT program has been met with a great response at the middle and high schools.

“This month we are focusing on personal management with class topics of cell and screen time moderation, time and money budgeting, and a class dedicated to learning how to use a calendar and/or planner to schedule tasks and plan multi-step projects.”

The Hope Center (the sponsor for the LIT program) provides snacks and water for the students each week. Hupp said the kids love having an after school snack and a fun chat about various topics.

For the planner discussion, the Hope Center will provide a planner for each student that attends.

“In the coming weeks, the middle school will tackle the trophy cases. We dusted them last year as our service project and it blessed our class as well as the school. The students were able to see the many accomplishments of former students and take time to truly review the items in the trophy case.”

Hupp said the service project for the high school hasn’t been set yet.

“None of this would be possible without the support and grant from Mayor Frank and the County Council.”
