Over the summer, Tippecanoe County's public library directors and librarians from across the state started discussing ways to protect their assets: Libraries.

Jos Holman, director of the Tippecanoe County Public Library, believes the future of those assets will be up for debate as lawmakers turn their attention to recommendations in the Kernan-Shepard report.

That 2007 report, which played a key role in the elimination of hundreds of township-level assessor jobs this past year, recommends consolidation of Indiana's 239 public library districts into 92 countywide districts.
