MISHAWAKA — Beacon Medical Group's new Mishawaka clinic will include family practice and specialty care practices with a diagnostic center and lab services.

Those and other details about the $20.5 million project, set to be built at Lincoln Way East and Church Street, emerged earlier this week as the city's planning commission gave a thumbs up to the final site plans.

The two-story, 26,000-square-foot clinic will be located on the site of the former bank building at the corner of Lincoln Way and Church Street, most recently used by Berkshire Hathaway real estate and the district office for U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski.

Beacon Health System:Company pitching purchase of Mishawaka Utilities property for new clinic

The project by Beacon involves two phases. The first is the clinic portion, while the second phase, which is yet to be detailed, involves the property where the current Mishawaka Utilities business offices sit.

Beacon purchased the utilities building and a small part of the city-owned parking lot for $50,000. Plans by Beacon call for razing the building once the utility, along with other city services departments, move into the former Liberty Mutual Insurance building later this year.
