TERRE HAUTE - Pfizer Inc. today announced it will reduce its staff by 660 employees by the middle of this year.

Reductions come on the heels of the company's decision in October to cease production and marketing of Exubera, an inhaled insulin product made in Terre Haute.

The company will continue to employ 140 workers at least through the end of the year.

Employees were told this morning of the company's decision.

Reductions will begin in March, Pfizer officials said.
