Before the Indiana House of Representatives gaveled into its special session today, Indiana House Republicans released a draft congressional map for the mid-cycle redistricting efforts.

The map, if approved, would dramatically change the boundaries of Indiana’s congressional districts. Hancock County, currently part of the sixth congressional district, would be reorganized into the seventh congressional district alongside Madison County, Henry County, Randolph County, Wayne County, Union County, Franklin County, Ripley County, Dearborn County, Ohio County, Jefferson County and Switzerland County, along with portions of Marion County and Delaware County.

Marion County, currently consisting mostly of the seventh congressional district, would be divided between the fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth congressional districts. The Indiana congressional delegation, currently at seven Republicans and two Democrats, could turn into a full Republican delegation if the map passes.

The Indiana Senate will convene Dec. 8 to further discuss the matter of redistricting.
