GM slashing first-quarter production, closing Fort Wayne plant temporarily

General Motors Corp. is cutting another 250,000 vehicles from its first-quarter production schedule by temporarily closing its Fort Wayne plant and 19 other factories.

GM's Allen County assembly plant employs 2,700 and its Defiance, Ohio, foundry employs 1,500.
