Carmel-based Delta Faucet Co. announced today that it will discontinue assembly and brazing operations at its Greensburg plant, resulting in the loss of 265 jobs.

The company said it will consolidate the operations into its Jackson, Tenn., facility, leaving the Greensburg location with about 200 employees. The jobs will be phased out during the next seven months, Delta said.

Employee numbers at Delta's Jackson, Tenn., plant will increase from about 600 to 800, the company said.

"The continuing housing slump and weak economic climate has forced us to look at all of our processes with an eye toward remaining competitive," Rick Marshall, vice president of operations, said in a written statement.

The company is offering various forms of assistance to workers affected by the reductions at Greensburg.

Delta is owned by Masco Corp., headquartered in Taylor, Mich.
