Elkhart's ETHOS center receives more than $500,000 in Regional Cities funding

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. announced that ETHOS had been approved for a contribution totaling $532,325. ETHOS is going to use the funding to help move the center into the former Bayer Corp. building at 1025 N. Michigan Ave. in Elkhart. The total cost of the move and renovation stands at $3.63 million.

"These dollars, plus a $250,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County and their $1 million challenge grant will be the stimulus needed as we launch our fundraising drive to obtain the remaining local dollars," said Patsy Boehler, executive director of the ETHOS Science Center. 

Bayer Corp. has already sold the building to ETHOS for $1.

The South Bend-Elkhart region was awarded $42 million through the state's Regional Cities Intiative in 2015 to be spent on leveraging development projects that make the area a better place to live. The ETHOS expansion project was one of several projects the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Development Authority selected in August to receive funding.
