Monaco Coach Corp. announced today that it will keep open its Custom Chassis Products joint venture with Navistar Inc. in Elkhart.

That means the company will continue to produce several types of chassis at its Elkhart facility, which previously was set for closure in September.

Meanwhile, the company also announced job fairs for employees Wednesday in Wakarusa and Thursday in Elkhart. An employment resource center opened since Aug. 4 in Wakaursa will remain open until Sept. 12.

Employers interested in participating in the job fairs should contact Christie Alley, employee relations manager, at 574-862-7376.

In addition, a local employment training firm will work with Monaco to offer workshops on various topics including basic interviewing skills, developing resumes and job search training.

Monaco announced in July that 1,400 workers would be laid off in mid-September after the closing of plans in Wakarusa, Nappanee and Elkhart.
