Idaho-based MWI Veterinary Supply Inc. said today it will establish distribution operations in Indiana by leasing space in Whitestown, creating more than 30 new jobs by the end of the year.

MWI, which distributes supplies to veterinarians, said it will invest more than $1.5 million to lease existing warehouse space for its cold storage and distribution operations. The new center in the AllPoints at Anson industrial park will service markets in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions.

The company said it will begin hiring warehouse and management workers later this summer before the new facility is set to open in October.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered MWI up to $200,000 in performance-based tax credits and $22,500 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans. The town of Whitestown will consider additional property-tax abatement.

Founded in 1976, the publicly traded MWI employs more than 850 people at 12 distribution centers across the country.

The industrial park's other tenants include Amazon.com and Medco Health Solutions.
