The Fayette County Area Planning Commission sent a favorable recommendation to county commissioners for a proposed ethanol plant. It was a packed house Monday at City Hall as the first official steps to bring the Whitewater Valley Ethanol plant to Fayette County won the approval of the APC. The rezoning request includes a 324-acre site in western Fayette County between the CSX Railroad, Indiana 44 and Saxon Road from Agricultural-2 to Open Industrial-2.
The zoning change requires commissioners' approval. However, Chad Lee, president of the Fayette County Commissioner, spoke in favor of the facility on Monday. "I support it myself," Lee said.
