INDIANAPOLIS - The Senate overwhelmingly supported a bill Wednesday that moves Indiana toward taxing income instead of property to pay for local government services.
House Bill 1478 - passed by a vote of 44-5 - now heads to conference committee, where Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate will try to broker a compromise before the session ends April 29.
