What's next
The Indiana State Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Advisory Board will meet at least quarterly to review the overall strategic plan and action items outlined in the document.
New action items will be added as initial ones are completed, and metrics will be reviewed on a regular basis to gauge success in meeting the plan's goals.

Although the number of farms in Indiana has declined by more than 30 percent during the past 30 years -- to roughly 60,000 in 2002 -- the amount of land being farmed in the state has remained relatively constant at about 13 million acres.
